1. Download ZOOM (for both teachers and students) for convenient access - best for teachers to use desktop/laptop for all functions (e.g. breakout room)
2. Introduce some key buttons/functions for your students (e.g. raise hand, chat, annotate) – as teacher’s screen is different from students’
3. Set clear ground rules and instructions Some of the examples are listed below for your consideration:
For attendance taking, please remind students to use their full name and encourage them to show their faces with camera on (if available)
Mute all students to avoid background noise and ask your students to “Raise hand” if they would like to speak up > Unmute themselves > After talking, mute themselves
Encourage your students to use “Chat” for posting questions or feedback
Before “Breakout room”, provide discussion questions and duration, remind them that you will not be in their room. Students could click “Ask for help” if they need assistance.
Before ending “Breakout room”, remind them to click “Return to Main Session”, NOT Leave/End Meeting
4. To share an online video,
Place the video link in Chat;
Pre-load your video before starting your lesson, and click “Share computer audio” after clicking “Share screen”
5. Share whiteboard for collaboration, students can annotate together at the same time
6. Design some online learning activities to engage with your students for quality learning and teaching
7. Hide all the personal and confidential items from the computer desktop before sharing screen
